Prediction: Aberdeen vs Kilmarnock – preview, preview, lineups

Foot Predictions shows the Scottish Premier League clash on Saturday between Aberdeen and Kilmarnock, including hunches, preview and possible lineups.

Two out-of-form teams face off in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon as Aberdeen host Kilmarnock.

The Dons and Killie have managed just two wins in 19 combined matches since the turn of the year and both sides are still looking for their first three points in February.

Match analysis

Aberdeen’s quest for a league goal continues as they narrowly lost 1-0 at Celtic’s home on Wednesday night, setting the club’s new record of six goals without a goal.

David TurnbullThe team’s long-range kick was enough for Hoops to score three points at home against Dons’s team, who felt they should have received a penalty after the ball hit Stephen Welsh’s hand inside the area.

Derek McInnes was “extremely encouraged” by his team’s offensive game, despite losing the eighth match of the season in the Scottish Premiership, with new signings Fraser Hornby and Florian Kamberi showing signs of its threat of attack in the final third.

Aberdeen have won just one of the last 10 league games and remain four points behind Hibernian in the race for third place after playing yet another game.

The Dons have a good record against Kilmarnock, having lost just one of the last 27 league games against them and winning both games this season without conceding a goal.

Aberdeen’s victory on Saturday would leave the team in fourth place and one point behind Hibs if they lost at home to Hamilton.

Kilmarnock lost their seventh consecutive league match to Rangers, who lead the tables, defeating him 1-0 at Ibrox last weekend.

Ryan JackThe superb 25-yard volley from the first half was the only goal in a fierce and lackluster confrontation that saw the Gers secure the three points.

Tommy WrightThe Manchester United team have lost 11 away games, more than any other team in the Scottish Premiership so far in this campaign, and are just one point above Ross County, who played one more game.

Kilmarnock heads to Pittodrie after not scoring in six of their last seven league games against Aberdeen, four of them away from home.

Former St Johnstone coach Wright has had previous victories against the Dons and is undefeated in his last three visits to Aberdeen. The 57-year-old also wants to win consecutive league games at Pittodrie for the first time since October 2015.

A victory for Killie away from home for the first time since December 30 would result in them gaining four points ahead of Ross County, which they face in two weeks.

Probability: Aberdeen 1-0 Kilmarnock

As the two teams have not scored in the last four matches, this weekend’s clash is unlikely to have a goal party in Pittodrie.

Aberdeen managed to defeat Kilmarnock in both previous meetings in this campaign, and we expect the host to do the same on Saturday.
