With a full crowd of around 60,000 fans expected at Parkhead on Sunday, Celtic hope to be able to reward their patient fans with all three points when they compete against newcomers Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.
Meanwhile, the guests want to take advantage of the inconsistent form of the hosts and win their first victory since May 2001 against them.
Prediction for this match
After a disastrous four-day period in which Celtic were eliminated from the Champions League qualification and lost their first Premiership game for the first time in 24 years, their fans finally had something to cheer on Thursday night when they won 4-2 away from FK Baumit Jablonec in the first leg of the third-round qualification of the Europa League.
Goals in the first half from new signings in the summer Liel Abada and Kyogo Furuhashi followed by blows in the second half of James Forrest and Ryan Christiewhose goal the Hoops will ensure that the Hoops return to Glasgow for the second leg next week.
Under pressure to get instant success at Parkhead, head coach Ange Postecoglou will be confident that his team can advance to the final round of playoffs where they will face AZ Alkmaar. Otherwise, however, they would be relegated to the first Europa Conference League.
Celtic now briefly turns back to the Premiership, where they suffered a 2-1 defeat against newly promoted Hearts on the opening weekend.
They face another team that emerged from the championship with Dundee on Sunday and Postecoglou will aim to hit the bull’s eye with a win as the Hoops boss, possibly in front of a packed crowd at Parkhead.
Celtic are undefeated in any of their last 36 encounters against the dark blues so they will surely gauge their chances of scooping all three points this weekend, although improvements in defense are needed to build a platform for success.
Including the pre-season friendlies, the Hoops have conceded eight of their nine games this season and conceded a total of 16 goals. Postecoglou hopes the defender’s additions Carl Sternenfelt and goalkeeper Joe Hart can strengthen their back line in the future.
Dundee took a point in their first game in the premier league after playing an entertaining 2-2 home draw with St. Mirren last weekend.
Eamonn BrophyThe start in the fourth minute was canceled just before half-time when Joe Shaughnessy steered the ball into his own net. Jamie McGrath then he converted nine minutes after the restart from the penalty spot before Dundee scored the second equalizer through a substitute Jason Cummings.
Although the dark blues were reduced to 10 men, followed Max AndersonAfter the red card in the 69th minute, the hosts were able to keep St. Mirren in check and secure some of the loot in Dens Park.
Head coach James McPake was not satisfied with the decision to award St. Mirren her sentence. Nevertheless, he did not want this discussion point to diminish his team’s performance, as the 37-year-old is “extremely proud” of his players who saved a draw with 10 men.
McPake is also optimistic about the new season, although he is aware of the challenges they will face along the way, with their first real test against Celtic on Sunday.
Dundee last defeated the Hoops over 20 years ago with a 2-0 win at Parkhead in May 2001, and they have not scored and conceded 16 goals in their last seven games.
Success this weekend is unlikely for the dark blues, but with the hosts accepting inconsistent form and losing their opening game to a newcomer, a possible surprise for the McPake men cannot be ruled out.

England goalkeeper Hart made his debut for Celtic mid-week and the 34-year-old is expected to keep the number one shirt in front of him Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bainwho failed to reach the heights expected by Hoops fans.
Former Crystal Palace and Everton midfielder James McCarthy was also drafted on the same day as Hart, although the 30-year-old was not involved on Thursday. However, the Irishman could be in the squad for matchday this weekend and compete for a spot in the middle of the park on the side Callum McGregor, Ismaila Soro and David Turnbullall started in the middle of the week.
Newcomer Starleft starts again as a central defender alongside Nir Bitton with teenagers Dane Murray to provide cover on the bank while Christopher Jullien continues recovery from a long-term knee injury. Experienced striker Leigh Griffithsmeanwhile remains doubtful because of a strained calf.
striker Odsonne Edouard Celtic’s Europa League qualifier started on the bench but is expected to be brought back into the starting XI ahead of Japanese striker Furuhashi and the Frenchman could be assisted in the attack by Abada and Forrest, both of whom scored mid-week.
As for Dundee, after his release last weekend, they’ll be without the banned Anderson, who is likely to see Shaun Byrne Come into midfield and start alongside the 35-year-old Charlie Adam and 18 years old Finlay Robertson.
McPake also has to do without strikers Danny Mullen, who was eliminated in the 17th minute against St. Mirren with a fibula injury. Former Rangers loanee Cummings is the most likely candidate to replace him upfront.
defender Liam Fontaine another one is ruled out for this weekend due to a hamstring problem, so Jordan McGhee and Lee Ashcroft are ready to unite with full-backs at the heart of defense Christie Elliott and Jordan Marshall to form the back four.
Celtic possible starting line-up:
Hard; Ralston, Bitton, Starfelt, Taylor; McGregor, Soro, Turnbull; Abada, Edouard, Forrest
Dundee possible starting line-up:
Legzdins; Elliott, Ashcroft, McGhee, Marshall; Robertson, Byrne, Adam; McMullan, Cummings, McCowan
Probability: Celtic 3-1 Dundee
Postecoglou will need time to formulate their strongest starting XI and strengthen their signings if Celtic is to become a competitive force this season.
Defensive weaknesses are a problem for the Hoops and we hope Dundee scores on Sunday but the hosts should have the firepower to claim their first league win of the season.
