Foot Predictions shows the Bundesliga clash on Saturday between Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen, including hunches, betting tips and possible lineups.
Borussia Monchengladbach entertain Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with time running out for both teams in terms of their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
Gladbach narrowly overtook Leverkusen for fourth place last season, but in the current form none of these teams will represent Germany in Europe’s elite competition next season.
Gladbach certainly seems to be in a state of change at the moment, with the manager Marco Rose is due to leave for Borussia Dortmund in the summer and the results have suffered recently, perhaps partly as a result of that announcement.
Die Fohlen looked his best in a lightning performance in the first half at RB Leipzig last week, however, with Dayot Upamecanounnecessary challenge in Breel Embolo allowed Jonas Hofmann to pass the ball Peter Gulasci of the penalty mark. 13 minutes later, excellent side game by Valentino Lazaro found Embolo on the crossbar, with the Swiss striker’s header deflected Marcus Thuram at the bottom of the Leipzig network.
However, defensive nervousness and family vulnerabilities remained at Gladbach’s bottom line, with Leipzig increasing the pressure after the break. Christopher Nkunku and Yussuf Poulsen fired Julian Nagelsmannon the side of both sides of the time stamp, with Alexander Sorloth breaking Gladbach’s heart with the last kick of the game to complete a phenomenal turn and keep his team’s title hopes intact.
Rose’s team suffered another setback in the middle of the week, with the 44-year-old’s hopes of leaving the club with a trophy after the 1-0 loss to his future club, Dortmund, in the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal. With a nine point disadvantage for Eintracht Frankfurt in fourth place, Rose’s term must have been reduced to securing Europa League football as a farewell gift to the club he has served so well, with the next opponent Leverkusen likely to prove itself a rival in that sense once again.
Leverkusen, meanwhile, are still just five points behind Frankfurt, but appear to be wasting their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League by leading the standings until 19 December.
Peter BoszThe team’s 2-1 defeat at home to Freiburg last weekend was predictable, with Die Werkself dominating possession and the kick count of the match, but falling short due to two clinical counterattacks by the visitors .
Christian Streich had his goalkeeper Florian Muller thank the scoreboard’s tie at half-time, with the 23-year-old making three excellent saves to deny Florian Wirtz, Leon Bailey and Demarai Gray in the first exchanges.
Lucas Holer and Ermedin Demirovic each combined for Freiburg’s goals, with Bailey’s effervescent finish in response not built in terms of recovering a point from the game. However, Bosz can imagine his team’s chances against a team of Gladbach apparently mired in an even deeper implosion mode, with a victory potentially resurrecting the season on both sides.

All news from the teams
Gladbach will be without Lars Stindl after his best scorer received the fifth yellow game of the season during the defeat to Leipzig.
Tony Jantschke continues to be hampered by a muscle injury, but other than that, Rose has a certificate of good health to choose from.
Bosz could only wish for such a fortune, with Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Julian Baumgartlinger both for the foreseeable future with ACL injuries. Jeremie Frimpong, Sven Bender, Santiago Arias and Paulinho could return this month, but not in time for Gladbach’s visit, while the starting goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky is out until April with an Achilles tendon problem.
22 years Lennart Grill came between the sticks to make his debut against Freiburg and must keep his spot, with the return Moussa Diaby will likely replace Bailey after the Jamaica winger received his fifth yellow card and a subsequent suspension last time.
Possible initial lineup for Borussia Monchengladbach:
Sommer; Lainer, Ginter, Elvedi, Bensebaini; Kramer, Neuhaus, Zakaria; Plea, Embolo, Hofmann
Possible initial line-up for Bayer Leverkusen:
Grid; Dragovic, Tah, Tapsoba, Wendell; Demirbay, Aranguiz, Wirtz; Diaby, Schick, Gray
Probability: Borussia Monchengladbach 2-2 Bayer Leverkusen
We can see a fun tie between the two teams, both of which feel more comfortable attacking than defending.
In fact, a portion of the spoils probably wouldn’t do any clubs any favors in terms of finishing in the top four, but those ambitions seem to be increasingly unlikely in any case.
