Foot Predictions shows the Serie A clash on Monday between Hellas Verona and Parma, including predictions, preview and possible lineups.

Hellas Verona will seek to recover from consecutive defeats on Monday night, when receiving the main relegation candidates Parma for Stadio Bentegodi.

The respective Gialloblu teams meet as the visitors continue to endure a nightmare period of 12 league games without winning – the worst streak ever in Serie A.

Match analysis

After going through the first turbulent phase of an otherwise impressive season, Verona continued its recent inconsistency by losing its last two league games. Coming after the Venetian team deservedly defeated Napoli shortly after the defeat to Bologna, the recent twists and turns suffered by Roma and Udinese have been particularly disappointing.

Under the much admired coach Ivan Juric, they have never suffered three consecutive defeats in Serie A, so the demanding strategist will be doubly determined to take advantage of Parma’s problems on Monday.

Now in ninth place in the standings, Hellas was defeated 2-0 by Udinese at the Dacia Arena last time, where Juric was – for the first time – tactically guilty for the fall of his team.

An experiment that saw a new signature Kevin lasagna – just arrived from Udinese – and Nikola Kalinic appearing together in a front pair seems likely to be sent to the dustbin of history, so one of the wrong attackers is sure to make way this week.

Returning to its type, Verona will seek to become the 19th club to reach 1000 goals in the history of Serie A, as it currently sits in 998 and faces opponents whose confidence diminishes game by game. The seasonal count of 26 goals from the hosts so far is the worst number among the teams in the top half of the table, so this could be the ideal opportunity to finally fill up the boots.

Having never tied Parma in the first division at home, Hellas have won six of the club’s last eight meetings at Veneto – including each of the last four.

The darkest winter continued for Roberto D’AversaThe Parma team last time, when they were defeated 3-0 against Emilian’s rival, Bologna, at the Stadio Ennio Tardini. Despite adding several attack options to a shy team in the January window, D’Aversa again opted for a relatively conservative lineup at home, which did not work.

With just two goals in the last ten rounds, their survival in Serie A is seriously at risk, as the teams above them are starting to score precious points. In desperate need of a quick reversal of luck, Parma is second only to Crotone, scoring just 13 points from 21 games in the disastrous 2020-21 campaign.

It dates back to the end of November, when the former manager Fabio Liverani was still in charge, his winning streak is far from the only ugly statistic they’ve accumulated this season.

Since December, Parma have not scored a goal in nine league games and have not even registered once in their last eight home games in the top flight, with only Sampdoria’s record of nine in 1972, representing a worst series in the history of the Series THE.

Returning to the bank he vacated last summer, D’Aversa certainly got into a difficult situation when he succeeded Liverani, but he has not yet inspired a turnaround in results. The frantic search by both commanders for a winning formula has created confusion, as Parma is – along with Ligue 1 St Etienne – one of the two teams that have used the most players in the top five European leagues so far – an impressive 36.

One of Liverani’s few successes at the helm, Parma won the last meeting between the two teams – winning 1-0 at Tardini in early October, when Jasmin Kurtic scored what turned out to be the winner in the opening minute. His unfortunate successor would love to repeat the dose on Monday and take the first step towards salvation.

Luis Alberto da Lazio in action with Miguel Veloso of Hellas Verona on February 5, 2020

Again, captain of Hellas Miguel Veloso should be left out due to a thigh injury, while Federico Ceccherini and Marco Benassi are also unavailable and striker Andrea Favilli it is a serious doubt. In addition, Ivan Juric will have to deal without regular entries Mattia Zaccagni – club scorer and main creative force – and lateral Davide Faraoni, which serve suspensions.

Darko Lazovic must move to the right flank to cover Faraoni, with Federico Dimarco potentially starting on the left. Zaccagni’s absence may provide an opportunity for Daniel Bessa to start, as long as Juric does not continue with Kevin Lasagna and Nikola Kalinic on a conventional front two.

Parma still suffer from a significant list of injuries, but have many bodies to intervene due to their swollen squad. Andreas Cornelius hurt his left thigh last week and will have to stay out of the trip north while Maxime Busi and Lautaro Valenti are still out of service – also with sprained thighs.

However, both Simone Iacoponi and Giuseppe Pezzella should be back in the squad on Monday, with the striker Roberto Inglese also rejoin training after an absence for personal reasons.

As the Englishman is unlikely to be thrown back to the bottom to replace Cornelius, there is speculation that signing the loan Joshua Zirkzee, from Bayern Munich, can be given the first match at the front. New boy companion Dennis Man is also a candidate to join Gervinho in an attack trident for visitors.

Possible starting lineup for Hellas Verona:
Silvestri; Dawidowicz, Gunter, Magnani; Lazovic, Tameze, Ilic, Dimarco; Barak, Bessa; Kalinic

Possible initial line-up for Parma:
Sepe; Conti, Alves, Bani, Gagliolo; Kucka, Hernani, Kurtic; Mihaila, Zirkzee, Gervinho

Probability: Hellas Verona 1-0 Parma

Two of the league’s weakest attacks face each other on Monday night, with the most inspiring player on both sides losing the game due to suspension.

Even in the absence of the respected Mattia Zaccagni, Verona can still muster enough offensive cunning to defeat Parma’s ever-changing defensive line and extend even more dark winter days for visitors.
