On the second weekend of the new season, two teams from opposite ends of the Bundesliga table will meet on Saturday Hertha Berlin host Wolfsburg.
The two teams also look back at the beginning of the new league season with opposing fates when they prepare for the clash in the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
Prediction for this match
Hertha would have hoped to start the new season on a positive note after an overall disappointing season last year. The Berliners have invested a lot in recent years, but lagged behind in 14th place, only two points before the relegation playoff place.
Manager Buddy DardaiThe first full season began with a disappointing 3-1 defeat against last year’s teammate, FC Köln, on the first day of the match.
After his appointment in January, the Hungarian managed to change the performances and results of his team after an initial slip and conceded only one defeat in the last nine games.
Before the defeat against Cologne on the opening weekend, Hertha had an impressively productive preparation for the season in which they remained unbeaten in their six friendly matches.
In the first competitive game of the season, Hertha beat third division club SV Meppen 1-0 in stoppage time in the first round of the DFB Cup, thanks to Davie Selke.
Dardai will now try to get the first points of the season on Saturday against an opponent whom they have only beaten once in the last eight games.
Wolfsburg comes to Berlin with their first win of the season – with a 1-0 home win against newly promoted VfL Bochum they achieved the expected result, but may not have reached the expected level.
Wolfsburg, which is returning to the Bundesliga for the first time since 2010 and is struggling with difficulties this year, failed despite a home advantage and a downsizing of the opponent after just four minutes to 10 men.
The best goalscorer last season Wout Weghorst missed the resulting penalty, but was able to redeem himself in the middle of the first half with the only goal of the game.
But despite the lead and the many missed clear opportunities, they were unable to extend their lead.
The opening day fights have been a common theme for the away team lately; new manager Mark van Bommel conceded five out of six defeats in preparation for the season, while they were disqualified from the DFB-Pokal after they had used an illegal sixth substitute in the 3-1 win against fourth division Preussen Münster.
However, after a difficult start to the new Bundesliga season, the new coach is hoping for double victories in order to repeat the successes of fourth place of the previous season.

Hertha Berlin captain Dedryck Boyata returns to the home side’s central defense and this could lead to a formation change after losing to Cologne; a few other personnel changes are to be expected in order to get the first points on the board.
Forward Matheus Cunha can be shot after last weekend’s start, although it has just returned from gold medal triumph with Brazil at the Tokyo Olympics; Davie Selke could replace him on the front line.
New strikers Suat Serdar and Stevan Jovetic They started their Hertha career positively, scored the opening goal of the game and should keep their place in the starting line-up.
Veteran goalkeeper Jarstein rune lack fitness and striker Krzysztof Piatek still has an ankle injury, so both are excluded.
Wolfsburg, meanwhile, should stay with the same starting line-up that Bochum defeated in the opening game, despite an unconvincing performance.
Renato Steffen was substituted off after just an hour in this match due to a light punch, but is expected to be fit enough to start again.
Wilhelm and Bartosz Bialek remain unavailable while due to long-term knee injuries Aster Vranckx, Paulo Ottavio and Daniel Ginczek were also excluded.
Talented striker Josip Brekalo remains doubtful because of a slight blow that kept him out of the win against Bochum.
Hertha Berlin possible starting line-up:
Schwolow; Boyata, Stark, M. Dardai; Zeefuik, Tousart, Ascacibar, Plattenhardt; Serdar, Selke, Jovetic
Wolfsburg possible starting line-up:
Casteels; Mbabu, Lacroix, Brooks, Roussillon; Schlager, Arnold; Baku, Philipp, Steffen; Weghorst
Probability: Hertha Berlin 1: 1 Wolfsburg
This game is a close game due to the relative struggles of both teams in terms of performance, if not results. Despite Wolfsburg’s significantly better placement in the Bundesliga last season, we assume that there will be a draw due to Wolfsburg’s away games.
