Nantes welcome Lyon on Friday to the Stade de la Beaujoire for the opening game of the fourth round of the new Ligue 1 season.

The hosts have made a mixed start to the season, while Lyon struggles in 16th place just outside the relegation zone and wants to start the season on the fourth attempt.

Prediction for this match

In their first three games, Nantes have won one, drawn one and lost one.

A promising start with a strong performance on the first day in the away draw in Monaco and a comfortable 2-0 home win over Metz, was a little exaggerated with a disappointing performance in Rennes.

Les Rennais had drawn their first two games but a Europa Conference League win against Rosenborg had given them confidence and started the game strong.

Both teams spurned chances in the first half and finally a Martin Terrier A goal in the 58th minute would get the home side three points, because the game fizzled out in the final phase, despite Antoine Kombouare‘s series of substitutions.

That said, Nantes will be reasonably happy with the start of the season after narrowly preventing relegation in the playoffs last season and will envision their chances at home against a team from Lyon who haven’t in the last six games and the winner is.

However, they need to work on their passing game as they are the team with the fewest successful passes and the least passing accuracy in Ligue 1 this season.

Life under a new manager Peter Bosz Lyon did not start smoothly and won their first three league games for the first time since the 2000/01 season.

Your main problem seems to be at the back. They conceded seven goals in three games – the second highest in the league – three of which were scored in the previous game at home against newly promoted Clermont.

Granted, the Lancers have made an admirable start to their time in Ligue 1 and are in third place on the table, but a team with the credentials and expectations of Lyon should expect to send a promoted player into the home game.

Things started well enough as Bosz’s team produced the kind of attacking football he’s known for – Moussa Dembele two goals at the beginning and Lucas Paqueta add a third to 3-1 at halftime – but Clermont recovered late and a brace from Elbasan Rashani spoiled the hosts the day with the compensation in the 91st minute.

Losing a two-goal lead in the last 10 minutes is a blow to team morale and will add to the pressure Bosz is already under, but the Dutchman can take comfort in the fact that Dembele has rediscovered his shooting shoes. after almost nine months without a goal and that they have beaten Nantes in each of their last three games.

Moses Simon von Nantes celebrates his second goal on March 14, 2021 with teammates like Ludovic Blas

New arrival in Nantes Wylan Cyprien is expected to stay on the sidelines as he struggles with a muscle problem and Friday’s game is likely to come early for the other three injured players as well.

striker Kalifa Coulibaly still has to recover from his thigh injury, Randal Kolo Muani is on the way with calf problems and Anthony Limbombe has a problem with the thigh muscles.

That sheds some light on Nantes at the attacking end of the pitch, but Kombouare will hope so Moses Simon can turn his last assists into goals of his own in his absence, with Renaud Emond likely to move forward to guide the line.

Lyon will have left-backs Maxwel Cornet and striker Islam Slimani after serving their suspensions in the Clermont clash but Cornet will not be allowed to return to the team immediately after signing the loan Emerson from Chelsea.

Colleague newcomer Damien Da Silva should keep his place in the rear of a 4-2-3-1 setup while uncertainty prevails Houssem AouarParticipation amid continued ties with a move to the Premier League.

Nantes possible starting line-up:
Lafont; Corchia, Castelletto, Pallois, Traore; Girotto, Chirivella; Blas, Coco, Simon; Emond

Lyon possible starting line-up:
Lopes; Dubois, Denayer, Da Silva, Emerson; Caqueret, Guimarães; Paqueta, Toko Ekambi, Aouar; Dembele

Probability: Nantes 1-1 Lyon

Nantes continue their habit of performing much better at home than traveling and they should be able to compete with a side from Lyon who are likely to be low on confidence.
