Bet365 tips Saturday’s league clash predictions between Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City, including hunches, preview and possible lineups.
Relegation rivals Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City face off in a huge clash at the bottom end of the championship on Saturday afternoon.
The two teams are in the relegation zone after experiencing a midweek defeat and are tied for points for this game in Hillsborough.
Wednesday was always likely to spend the campaign fighting for survival after being hit with a deduction of 12 points, later reduced to six on appeal.
That was the case, as the Owls came in second, with 29 games in their campaign played – one game less than Birmingham.
The city may not have expected to engage in a relegation duel, especially with Aitor Karanka – a man with experience of escaping the division in the right way – put in charge.
Less than a year after his appointment, however, Karanka is now struggling to save his job after a series of 11 championship-winning games, seven of which ended in defeat.
The most recent of these defeats went to Millwall on Wednesday – Jed Wallace and Ben Thompson scoring for the home team in what was a comfortable win at The Den.
Wednesday also suffered a midweek defeat, losing 1-0 to Stoke City with a goal at the end of his former striker Steven Fletcher.
Both sides are now a point of safety in what is proving to be a fun battle at the bottom end of the division.
The only saving grace for Wednesday was their form at home, having won five laps at Hillsborough – since August 2012, they have not enjoyed such a long streak.
This includes running three clean sheets in succession on domestic soil and five in the last six. Birmingham, by comparison, have not scored goals in three of their last five away games.

Birmingham City Championship form: LDDLLL
All news from the teams
Wednesday without Massimo Luongo and Andre Green against Stoke and acting boss Neil Thompson not sure if any of the players will return for Saturday’s match.
Thompson may be tempted to make some changes because of the last defeat, which could mean recalls for Josh Windass and Elias Kachunga.
As for Birmingham, they went with Scott Hogan and Lukas Jutkiewicz in the attack against Millwall after losing Sam Cosgrove the injury.
City, who have not scored in eight of their last 11 games, are almost certain to be without Cosgrove.
Jonathan Leko and Ivan Sanchez will be waiting for a place in XI after being nominated among midweek subs.
Possible initial lineup for Sheffield Wednesday:
Westwood; Lees, Dunkley, Urhoghide; Harris, Shaw, Hutchinson, Bannan, Reach; Rhodes, Paterson
Possible starting lineup for Birmingham City:
Etheridge; Valery, Dean, Friend, Pedersen; Harper, Sunjic; Leko, Halilovic, Bela; Hogan
Probability: Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 Birmingham City
Both sides will try to respond to midweek defeats in this six-point relegation.
Birmingham have been unbeaten for three consecutive away games against Wednesday, but the home team has been impressing at home in recent months.
In fact, the Owls have won five consecutive home league games – as many as in the previous 26 games – and we are supporting them to reach the top this weekend.
