Foot Predictions shows Sunday’s Premier League clash between West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur, including hunches, news about the teams and possible lineups.
Tottenham Hotspur we will seek to close the gap in West Ham United and his other four main rivals as they head to London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Spurs have lost four of the last five Premier League games – as many as in the previous 28 – and enter this game six points behind West Ham with one game less.
The Europa League can often be a distraction for teams in Tottenham’s position, but Jose Mourinho hopes that Thursday’s victory over Wolfsberger will kick-start his team’s season.
The Spurs defeated the Austrian Wolfsberger 4-1 in Budapest thanks to goals from Son Heung-min, Gareth Bale, Lucas moura and Carlos Vinicius.
Mourinho played a mixed XI at the Puskas Arena and his team is now in the Europa League round of 16, with an EFL Cup final also quickly approaching.
In the Premier League, however, the Spurs are in ninth place and six points behind the top four, albeit with one game less on most teams above them.
The defeat to Manchester City last time was the seventh of the season in the Premier League – only in 2015-16 with Chelsea (nine) Mourinho lost more in a single campaign.
While Tottenham have been fighting for consistency this season, West Ham is having their best campaign in the top flight at this stage of the season since 1985-86.
The Hammers defeated the last placed Sheffield United 3-0 in the middle of the week, adding 42 points in 24 matches, which is three more points that they have accumulated throughout 2019-20.
However, West Ham have lost each of the last three league games at home against rival Spurs – the longest home defeat against them in league history.
David Moyes also has a bad record against Mourinho, having faced the Portuguese on more occasions in all competitions without winning (15) than against any other coach.
This is something Moyes will try to rectify this weekend to bolster hopes for United’s top four and almost end Tottenham in the process.

All news from the teams
Michail Antonio he missed West Ham’s last two games and remains in doubt for Sunday’s clash, but Moyes will give his only senior striker every chance to be available.
Arthur Masuaku, Andriy Yarmolenko and Angelo Ogbonna definitely not part of West Ham, while Darren Randolph and Fabian Balbuena should be evaluated.
With a big doubt about Antonio’s availability, Moyes may well have the same side that overtook Sheffield United, which would mean Jarrod Bowen leading the attack.
As for Tottenham, Serge Aurier was discarded and teammate Sergio Reguilon it is also a big question about fitness, having been more than a month away.
Giovani Lo Celso it is the only other confirmed injury or suspension of the visitors, with Mourinho having many other options to choose from in that position.
After resting against Wolfsberger on Thursday, players like Harry Kane, Steven Bergwijn and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are expected to return to the starting lineup here.
Kane scored 11 goals in 15 Premier League games against West Ham – just against Leicester City (14) he scored more.
Possible starting line-up for West Ham United:
Fabianski; Diop, Dawson, Cresswell; Coufal, Soucek, Rice, Johnson; Lingard, Lanzini; Bowen
Possible starting lineup for Tottenham Hotspur:
Lloris; Tanganga, Alderweireld, Dier, Davies; Sissoko, Hojbjerg; Bergwijn, Ndombele, Son; Kane
Probability: West Ham United 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham wasted a three-goal lead with 10 minutes remaining in the 3-3 draw in the reverse game, and we are predicting another game with many goals on Sunday.
United entered this game in better shape than their city rivals, but Mourinho has a great record against the opposite number Moyes – a series of unbeaten streak that we can see extended to 16 games.
